National Day of Mourning

Image
Today I pay my respects to the 44 fallen heroes who died in Mamasapano, Maguindanao.  I pray for the families that they left behind and hope their death will not end up as an insignificant footnote in the history of our country. I salute the bravery of the SAF.   Related articles PRESS STATEMENT of the Mindanao Business Council on the Mamasapano Incident Philippines sacks head of police unit after deadly clash National Issues: Will the Mamasapano Massacre affect the BBL? #NasaanAngPangulo is top trending topic worldwide IN PHOTOS: The hunt for Marwan

Special Lunch at Carlos Special Ngohiong

Image
Because of social media sites like Instagram or Facebook and the affordability of camera phones, a lot of Cebuanos are fast becoming social media foodies. Hashtags like #foodporn and #happytummy has become one of top hashtags in Instagram and Twitter. Another food requirement I think to make a Cebuano or Cebuana a certified foodie aside from pungko-pungko is to have a favorite ngohiong place. Ngohiong is Cebu's answer to spring rolls. It is a cheap food item that is a big hit to true blue Cebuanos. I asked a few of my friends about their favourite places to eat ngohiong.  The answer is not really unanimous but a couple answered Carlos Ngohiong. Some also said Doming's in Guadalupe , Atik's in Mabolo, and Chinese Ngohiong near USC Main.  One time I ended up in Mambaling with a friend and I told her that I want to have ngohiong lunch at Carlos Special Ngohiong.  It has been quite a while since I went there.  I almost got lost but thanks to a friendly trisikad driver,

Coffee and Breakfast at Yolk

Image
They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day.  I agree and breakfast is actually my favorite meal on a regular day.  One time, I was not able to eat my typical breakfast and ended up looking for a place to eat brunch.  Lo and behold, a new breakfast place had opened near our house. I did not expect much because the place is beside a popular men's massage place with an unusual name.

Enjoying Cheeseburger and Milkshake at Cafe Racer

Image
It's another day in the 2015  Sinulog  week and to avoid the traffic, I went to the North Reclamation Area and then I saw this diner.  I decided to check it out and maybe have some decent snack.   I did not expect much of this place.  The outside looks like an refurbished abandoned gasoline station and there is a car wash for people who wants to have their car cleaned while enjoying some good food. When I got inside of the main diner, I was blown away. There are so many Instagram worthy areas in Cafe Racer Diner.  And it starts with the cashier's area. VW Van inside Cafe Racer!?

Eat-All-You-Restaurant in Cebu: Yakiniku all you can at Yaki House

Image
There was a time last year that my friend +Nezte Virtudazo   became a Yakiniku addict.  Ever since he ate at Yaki House Yakiniku, he practically wanted to eat there every day. I can't blame him.  Yaki House has one of the most affordable All You Can Eat Yakiniku in Cebu. Yakiniku House is located at A.S. Fortuna Street, Banilad, Mandaue City.  Last year, for only 299 pesos during lunch and 399 pesos during dinner, you can stuff yourself with grilled meat goodness until you get your fill. The nicest thing about Yakiniku is the cook-it-yourself experience.  A lot of diners go to a Yakiniku and just be busy "cooking" for their friends. It is so much fun that sometimes you forget to eat. Yaki House has a wide selection of meat.  They have chicken, pork, beef, sausages, scallops, and many more.
