Cebu Wing Places: Sure Thing Chicken Wing

Image
"Winging is not everything! It's the only sure thing!" There has been a lot of new  Chicken Wing Places in Cebu lately and I got invited to the opening Sure Thing Chicken Wing at F. Ramos Street.  It might not be my favorite part of the chicken but I also love to eat wings.  I checked out the wings at this place and I know what to order the next time I visit this restaurant.

Carbo-Loading at Ryan's Pizzarelli House

Image
Two weekends ago, my friend Angela Madura was joining her first ever 13K run.   I suggested that a before the race, she should eat a lot of carbs to store lots of glycogen on her body. I told her that one of the best carbo loading meals would be pizza and pasta.   The night before the race, we had dinner at Ryan’s Pizzarelli House.    Eating at a pizza place was indeed a brilliant idea as Angela was able to finish her 13k at a pretty decent pace.

Hole in the Wall: Carlos Special Ngohiong - Mabolo

Image
I am a certified Ngohiong fanatic. When I crave for ngohiong, I really do not mind exploring the side streets of Cebu in order to find a good meal.  Recently, I discovered that one of my favorite ngohiong places has a branch just 10 minutes from my house. Carlos Special Ngohiong opened a branch near Mabolo Church and I was able to enjoy their delicious ngohiong and fried chicken gizzard.

Hole in the Wall: Carding Pork and Fried Chicken

One time, I went to Chong Hua Medical Arts Building to accompany someone in her doctor's appointment.  The check up ended past 11 a.m. and I was hungry.  I walked towards the carenderias near the Chong Hua Hospital and check out what they are offering.  I found a pork chop and fried chicken eatery that I liked.

Hole in the Wall: Larang at Ahong's Ramos

Image
One time, I was driving around Cebu uptown and I was looking for a good place to eat.  I was not really keen on spending so much that day and I just wanted to eat at an eatery that has good food and a parking space.  Save for malls, it is really hard to find a parking space near the Fuente area during lunchtime. After minutes of driving around, I ended up in the Ramos Market area. I saw many cars parking at the back of the market and a lot of people seem to eat in the carenderias nearby. Luckily, I was to find a good spot to park.  I checked out the eateries nearby and I decided to eat at Ahong's.

Special Lunch at Carlos Special Ngohiong

Image
Because of social media sites like Instagram or Facebook and the affordability of camera phones, a lot of Cebuanos are fast becoming social media foodies. Hashtags like #foodporn and #happytummy has become one of top hashtags in Instagram and Twitter. Another food requirement I think to make a Cebuano or Cebuana a certified foodie aside from pungko-pungko is to have a favorite ngohiong place. Ngohiong is Cebu's answer to spring rolls. It is a cheap food item that is a big hit to true blue Cebuanos. I asked a few of my friends about their favourite places to eat ngohiong.  The answer is not really unanimous but a couple answered Carlos Ngohiong. Some also said Doming's in Guadalupe , Atik's in Mabolo, and Chinese Ngohiong near USC Main.  One time I ended up in Mambaling with a friend and I told her that I want to have ngohiong lunch at Carlos Special Ngohiong.  It has been quite a while since I went there.  I almost got lost but thanks to a friendly trisikad ...

Affordable and delicious dimsum at Braddex

Image
Cebu is like the dimsum capital of the Philippines.   Cebuanos were lucky to have the Ding Qua Qua (Kokseng) Group which introduced them to the wonderful world of dimsum.  I was introduced to dimsum way back in my elementary days at the old Ding Qua Qua in now what is known as Mango Square.

Ribpublic Diner Part II: The Group Meal

Image
After my first visit at the Ribpublic Diner , I promised to go back to this place with some company.  True to my promise I brought company and it was not just one or to but the whole gang.  The seven of us a good mix of professionals and students. If you do not know where the restaurant is, it is located at Governor M. Roa Street.  Governor M. Roa street is the back street of Cebu Doctor's Hospital.  Coming from Fuente Osmena circle, you walk or drive towards the capitol.  You turn right at the corner of Coco Mall (Red Ribbon) which is the 2nd traffic light  coming from Fuente. After a making a right, make another right.  Drive or Walk around 50 meters and you will see The Ribpublic Diner at the right side.  You may park at the street but it is usually full.  Good thing, there is a paid parking area adjacent to the diner. What to order? The nice thing about this place is that they would not confuse customers by having too many c...
