How to Eat Shabu Shabu

Image
According to Wikipedia, Shabu-Shabu is a Japanese dish featuring beef boiled in water. It sounds pretty straightforward, but when you go to a shabu-shabu restaurant you realize that it is not as simple as it is.  Sometimes, you get so confused on what to do as you are bombarded with raw veggies and meat which can be quite challenging if you are not into cooking. I recently got invited to eat at Shabu Way, one of the most popular restaurants in Cebu for this type cuisine and I got educated on how to enjoy a shabu shabu meal.

Warning: This post is full graphic images that might cause you to drool or have cravings in odd hours of the day. When it comes to eat-all-you-can restaurants in Cebu, it is hard to beat the quality, variety, and value that Tokyo Table offers. I have eaten at this buffet restaurant several times and each time, I always discover a new favorite dish.  Tokyo Table never ceases to amaze me.  This is one of the restaurants that I can truly say to my friends and #kalaminions as a must-try.

Enjoying Butadon in Cebu at Obihiro Butadon

A new restaurant has opened in GND Buiding at F. Cabahug Street (Panagdait), Cebu City.  This new restaurant is another East Asian-inspired eatery in the same commercial complex.  GND Bldg. has been the home of Gugu Chicken, Ramen Kamekechi, and Ramen Naruto. The name of the new restaurant is Obihiro Butadon.  What is its specialty? The name speaks for itself.  This place is trying to make a name for pork bowls Obihiro-style.

Tonkatsu by Terazawa: Spanish Iberico Tonkatsu

Image
Are you thinking of a good meal to treat yourself for a job well done? One meal that I can suggest is the Spanish Iberico Tonkatsu at Tonkatsu by Terazawa. This Tonkatsu is made with the famous Spanish "Pata Negra".  The Iberian pigs are dubbed by Spanish doctors as walking olive trees owing to its high levels of  unsaturated fats .  The meat of Iberico pigs is also known for its excellent marbling which translates to enhanced flavors and enjoyable dining experience which makes them one of the favorite meats used in Tonkatsu restaurants worldwide.  A Tonkatsu serving at Tonkatsu by Terazawa is quite big and it is more than enough for someone with an average appetite.
