Kalami Cebu! - A Gastronomic Guide to Cebu

There has been a lot of new restaurants that has opened at Parkmall in the past couple of weeks.  One of the newest that really piqued my interest is Slate District in Parkmall.  After my first taste, this new restaurant has become one of my top places for baby back ribs and chicken wings.

Cebu Favorite Filipino restaurant brand Golden  Cowrie opens an Ayala Center Cebu branch of its newest brand, the Golden Cowrie Filipino Kitchen. At the Golden Cowrie Filipino Kitchen, diners can enjoy many of their classic dishes as well as the new favorites like Pocherong Bungkag and Pinaupong Manok.

There has been a lot of new restaurant openings in Cebu lately that is making the local food scene more vibrant and competitive.  A lot of restaurants in Cebu have been offering new items to entice Cebuanos while old favorites also innovate to try to keep up with the changing preferences of the market. When I eat at a new restaurant, I always look for something different and unique that each place has to offer. At Rustic Chef's Favorites, I found a couple things that I would love to eat again if ever end up in the Lapu-Lapu City area.

If I am asked to declare a favorite restaurant in the past 8 weeks then I would say it is the Peri-Peri Charcoal Chicken and Sauce Bar.   I have been to this new grilled chicken place four times already in that period. This new dining place is making Meerea High Street one of the up and coming dining hot spots in Cebu City and Mandaue City.

In the past year, there have been several restaurants in Cebu that wants to claim "The Best Wings Place in Cebu" title.  The introduction of several chicken wing places cannot outpace the demand for delicious and spicy chicken wings. It is definitely a booming segment as many  Cebuanos flock to their favorite wing place.  Recently, I had a "wing night" with my wife and we restaurant-hopped in two of the best chicken wing places in Cebu. First, we visited the newly opened Bad Boys Wingz right across Bright Academy in Talamban. This wing place used to be a small, but very popular food stall at the BTC and because of the high demand of chicken wings, the owners opened a stand-alone restaurant. I would say it was an excellent decision because they really serve one of the best chicken wings in Cebu.

After my first visit at the Ribpublic Diner , I promised to go back to this place with some company.  True to my promise I brought company and it was not just one or to but the whole gang.  The seven of us a good mix of professionals and students. If you do not know where the restaurant is, it is located at Governor M. Roa Street.  Governor M. Roa street is the back street of Cebu Doctor's Hospital.  Coming from Fuente Osmena circle, you walk or drive towards the capitol.  You turn right at the corner of Coco Mall (Red Ribbon) which is the 2nd traffic light  coming from Fuente. After a making a right, make another right.  Drive or Walk around 50 meters and you will see The Ribpublic Diner at the right side.  You may park at the street but it is usually full.  Good thing, there is a paid parking area adjacent to the diner.
