New Restaurants in Cebu: Rustic Chef's Favorites

Image
There has been a lot of new restaurant openings in Cebu lately that is making the local food scene more vibrant and competitive.  A lot of restaurants in Cebu have been offering new items to entice Cebuanos while old favorites also innovate to try to keep up with the changing preferences of the market. When I eat at a new restaurant, I always look for something different and unique that each place has to offer. At Rustic Chef's Favorites, I found a couple things that I would love to eat again if ever end up in the Lapu-Lapu City area.

6-28-2015 Food of the Day:Nilung-ag na Saging

One of the things that I considered a comfort food is Nilung-ag na Saging (Boiled Bananas).  There are just days that I want to eat boiled bananas and I can probably finish 5 in one sitting. I prefer my bananas to be semi-ripe.  I usually eat this on a lazy afternoon on a weekend.  It is also one of my favorite Holy Week and beach foods.  I know a lot of people love to dip this to some local anchovies (ginamos) especially the unripe ones.  Boiled Bananas is also a good alternative to rice when on a diet. How about you, how many boiled bananas can you eat in one snack? What is your favorite comfort food? Having Congee at Phat Pho

Image
I have been feeling under the weather the past week and I have been suffering from irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).  I do not know how I got sick but one of the fastest paths to recovery is through food . Food is medicine and it's a fact. Eating the right food will help the body heal itself. When you have IBS, you are usually told to avoid oily food, dairy, chocolate, and gaseous food like camote and beans. You are also advised to eat lots of fruits and food rich in fiber.  It is also good to drink lots of fluid to prevent dehydration.  When I have IBS, I usually eat congee or lugaw in local language. I usually prefer arroz caldo or pospas over lugaw.  Pospas is basically chicken congee with lots of ginger. Even if I fell sick, life must go on. I still have to go to the office at Robinsons Cybergate and check on my sales agents. I asked people from the office if they know a place that has pospas.  The normal answer would be Chowking but Chowking has stop...
