Kalami Cebu! - A Gastronomic Guide to Cebu

One time, I was driving around Cebu uptown and I was looking for a good place to eat.  I was not really keen on spending so much that day and I just wanted to eat at an eatery that has good food and a parking space.  Save for malls, it is really hard to find a parking space near the Fuente area during lunchtime. After minutes of driving around, I ended up in the Ramos Market area. I saw many cars parking at the back of the market and a lot of people seem to eat in the carenderias nearby. Luckily, I was to find a good spot to park.  I checked out the eateries nearby and I decided to eat at Ahong's.

Off the coast of Olango Island, there are several stilt restaurants that offer fresh seafoods for lunch.  Although a bit expensive, these restaurants offer a different kind of dining experience. You can reach these unique restaurants via banca and it is a great stopover while having an island hopping adventure in Cebu. At the stilt restaurant, you can pick your desired seafood from several choices. They have shells, fish, squid, shrimps, lobsters, and other edible seafoods.  One you made your choices they are going to weigh it and then ask you how you want it cooked. You can have it grilled, fried, sautéed, or made into a delicious soup. Ever since I discovered AA Barbecue, it has always been a favorite place to have lunch or dinner.    It is one of the restaurants or eateries where I can eat and enjoy any of their dishes. It is actually hard to pick a favorite here.  In some days, I just order some grilled pork belly, ngohiong and punaw soup.  In other days I could eat Saang, hot and chrispy squid, and chopsuey. The possibilities are just endless.

One day, I had this craving to eat some fish like tinola (soup) or sinugba (grilled). There are quite many possibilities for that here in Cebu.  There are even several restaurants in the mall that offer these kinds of dishes.  But this day, I would really like to eat something different and something special.  So, I ask some people where is the best place to eat tinola or sinugba.  A couple of my gym buddies told me that I should try Parr't Ebelle because they consider the restaurant as one of the best seafood restaurants in Cebu. I asked some taxi drivers and they point me to that place as well.
