Kalami Cebu! - A Gastronomic Guide to Cebu

Last Saturday, I tried out Diamond  Suites Cebu's Saturday dinner buffet dubbed as "International Feastival Buffet". All I can is that I was treated to a fantastic feast of delicious dishes from all over the world. At 408 pesos ($9), the eat all you can buffet at Diamond Suites Cebu is one of the best buffets in Cebu priced below 500 pesos.  I am quite sure that I have discovered one of the best places to eat on a Saturday night.

Two weekends ago, my friend Angela Madura was joining her first ever 13K run.   I suggested that a before the race, she should eat a lot of carbs to store lots of glycogen on her body. I told her that one of the best carbo loading meals would be pizza and pasta.   The night before the race, we had dinner at Ryan’s Pizzarelli House.    Eating at a pizza place was indeed a brilliant idea as Angela was able to finish her 13k at a pretty decent pace.

My blogger friends +Jephunneh Deon Flores   of KiatCebu and +Marie Imperial  of   Channelmarie.Com  invited me to an opening of a new pizza place in Mactan. I said yes since my mom was also arriving from Sydney on that same day.  Going to the opening of Pizza 2.Go was a perfect excuse to be early in Mactan. I realize that eating delicious pizza is one of the best things to do while waiting for someone.

One time I was out with my friends and my wife told me to bring something when I go home. It was almost midnight when I was done, so I decided to buy pizza. I was coming from I.T. Park and ended up at Gallery Mabolo.  Luckily, La Bella Pizza Bistro was still accepting orders. Since my wife loves cheese, I decided to get a Quattro Formaggi Pizza. Quattro Formaggi mean 4-Cheese and I am confident that she is going to love the surprise.

Way back in the early 90's when I was still in high school there was a pizza parlour that was popular with Cebuanos. JCA Pizza was an instant hit back then because of their affordable and delicious pizzas.

One fine day last year, my sales team was looking for a place for a meeting. We ended up in Baseline Residences since we went to the Redemptorist Church before our meeting.  At Baseline, our choice was between Bo's Coffee and this other cafe called Sprocketeer. Bo's was a bit crowded then so I decided we just check the other place out.

A lot of people love Italian cuisine . Pizza and pasta are very popular among Filipinos.  I checked out TripAdvisor and one of the top ten restaurants in Cebu is an Italian place in Lahug. After reading the reviews, I decided to check the place out.  La Buona Forchetta Da Paolo is restaurant located at 139 Acacia Street in Lahug.  Translated to English, La Bouna Forchetta means The Good Fork.  I actually accidentally found this place when I was checking a subdivision developer who happened to have an office in the nearby building.  At the outside, I was not expecting too much but once I got inside it was way different. The furniture looks great and it feels really homey and intimate.  I was pretty sure that I will have one heck of a lunch. It was only me and a friend that went there on that Saturday morning.  We were quite early as we arrived at La Buona Forchetta da Paolo a quarter past eleven. Pizza Republic by Guissepe Genco opened recently in Salinas Drive, Lahug.  What is so unique about this new pizza place is that you will be able to design your own pizza.  They have countless of toppings to choose from and the possibilities are infinite.

A few weeks ago, a friend of mine celebrate his birthday.  He rented a big house with a pool and invited all of his friends.  Since I am driving an AUV, he asked me to buy one of those giant pizzas from Calda Pizza. Calda Pizza is one of the very few pizza places that offer giant sized pizza.  There largest size has a diameter of 36 inches. The next biggest is 30 inches. I was scared that the biggest size would not fit my car so I ordered one 30 incher and one 20 inch pizza. Calda Pizza  has several branches in Cebu and they can deliver the gigantic pizzas right at your doorstep.
