Celebrate Sinulog the Pig & Palm Way!

Image
Cebu is home to Sinulog, and is also home to Michelin-starred Chef Jason Atherton’s first restaurant in the Philippines, The Pig & Palm. To celebrate the country’s grandest festival, the tapas-style dining hotspot concocted two fruity specialty cocktails plus a dish that best complements it, available until January 21.

Image
The Bb. Sugbu Charity Foundation, Inc. in cooperation with Sacred Heart School for Boys Batch 1985 formally launched the highly anticipated pageant, Binibining Cebu.  This pageant pits 54 lovely Cebuanas representing the 53 towns and cities of Cebu with Cebu City getting 2 representatives.  Binibining Cebu seeks to find an ambassadress who exemplifies today's modern Cebuana, and in the process promote the beauty, heritage, culture, and commerce of the towns and cities of Cebu.

Ding How Reopens after 20 years!

Image
Cebuanos love dimsum.  I grew up loving steamed rice, siomai, siopao and lumpia Shanghai. I am not alone. Apparently, this love affair between Cebuanos and dim sum started in 1969.  In 1969, man landed on the moon.  Filipina Gloria Diaz bagged Miss Universe that year. On that same year, Cebu was introduced to Hong Kong-style dim sum with the opening of Ding How.

#MeetEatRepeat: Sumo Sam with Jomie Hospital

Image
A year ago I have been introduced to a different kind of social media animals called Youtubers or Vloggers. I have been blogging for quite a while but I rarely encountered Youtubers in Cebu in events that I have attended.  Thanks to ABS-CBN's Chicken Pork Adobo (now Adobers Studios), I have met some of the best Youtubers in the region.  One of the best is definitely Jomie Hospital of Gingoog. He relocated to Cebu recently and I am one first people who shared a meal with the newest Cebu-based YouTube sensation.

Kalami Cebu is Currently the Top Reviewer in Zomato for Cebu

Image
I have been doing reviews at Zomato.Com in the past year.  I was surprised that last week I became the top reviewer for Cebu on this restaurant review app.  Kalami Cebu has been active at Zomato and for me, this app is very helpful in helping you find out the best places to eat here in Cebu, in Manila and other key cities in the world.  I hope you download the app and check it out.

Sugbo Mercado Food Trips: Eggcloud by SG and Pinacoolada

Image
Before the year ended, I was able to check out Sugbo Mercado at the SRP with some of my blogger friends. We enjoyed some egg waffles from Eggcloud by SG and I also got to taste the  Pinacoolada .  Sugbo Mercado SRP is definitely a food destination that my friends from the southern part of Metro Cebu should check out.

Kalami Cebu thanks all the Kalaminions of 2016

Image
It was a great year for food and food trips for Kalami Cebu.  It would not have been this awesome if not for all the Kalaminions who participated in my food trips.  As the first "Thank You" post to cap the year, Kalami Cebu would like to recognize all the people who are instrumental in joining me in this food blog journey. Kalaminions of 2016

What is your Favorite Lechon part because I am going to Eat it

Image
Christmas is synonymous to lechon in Cebu. During the Christmas season, you will probably eat lechon every day if you love going to Christmas parties here in the Queen City of the South.  I lived in Manila before and they do not eat as much lechon as an average Cebuano.  Since people living in Cebu eat so much lechon,  each one of us has a favorite part.  Here is my take on the most delicious parts of the lechon.

I did not know that I was starving until I tasted...Vigan.  For a couple of years, I have been food blogging and my food adventures revolved around my lovely island of Cebu.  Yes! Kalami Cebu Monthly June 2016 Recap: A Month eaten by the Sony A6300

Image
June 2016 was a busy month for Kalami Cebu. I posted fewer blog posts compared to other months but most of my content were on my social media accounts.  The main culprit for less output in the blog would definitely be my new camera, the Sony A6300.  I bought a new camera to help in my blogging and it worked but breaking in my new cam was a bit detrimental to my blogging.

Vikings SM City Cebu: A Feast Fit for a King!

Image
When I watch movies, I always feel some jealousy looking at medieval kings and warriors feasting after a victory. I sort off salivate when I see Vikings eating a whole leg of lamb using one hand. I fantasize doing just that while eating some drumsticks. Well, my fantasy turned into reality when I went to the opening of Vikings SM City Cebu.

Sunset, Dinner and Scape Skydeck

Image
If you are looking for the best restaurant to view the sunset in Cebu then my recommendation would definitely be the Scape Skydeck at the roof deck of Azon Condominium in Mactan, Cebu. When you plan to dine here, I suggest that you come as early as 5 pm so that you can witness the glorious summer sunset over some burgers and cold drinks.

Blog Report: Kalami Cebu moves to a new domain

Image
Kalami Cebu started as a hobby blog.  I had so many food and restaurant pictures that I decided to start writing about it. My traffic was just 200 views a month last January then I decided to write more often. As a result, my traffic increased drastically. The average site traffic of this blog is now over 20,000 page views a month for 3 consecutive months already. I never expected the blog to reach these traffic levels. This blog was supposed to be an experiment to see if a FREE blog can generate good traffic through publishing useful content. I decided to end the experiment today. I realized that I have far surpassed my initial objective.  With the advice of some mentors and leads in the Cebu Blogging Community, I decided to buy a domain. Kalamicebu.blogspot.com is now Kalamicebu.com.  The name now sounds more legit and one of the biggest reasons for the change are the readers who regularly checks the posts here in the blog. I want to thank all the readers and I...

Pizza Week at Kalami Cebu

Image
Dear Kalami Cebu readers, I was not able to write much last month due to some family commitments.  I had a lot of visitors in August so I was spending more time driving people around.  The good thing about having visitors was that I was able to gather a lot of content to write about.  I have been to several Pizza places lately and I have hundreds of MBs worth of Pizza pictures. To become more productive this month, I divided some of backlogs and schedule similar restaurants on the same week. So to start off this practice, I will make this week as Pizza Week. Pizza Week will about the popular Italian invention that puts cheese, meat, veggies, spices, and fruits on top of a round flat bread . Pizza has been one of my favorite snacks ever.  I love pizza even the cheap ones. I used to consider the Pizza segment as boring and mature.  I felt that there was no more innovation in the segment and it is dominated by the big players like Shakeys, Pizza Hu...

This blog is all about food that you can find in Cebu.  The usual suspects. The good ones. The strange ones. This blog will try to have it all. We eat everyday and a lot of people love food. As the age of Instagram and mobile photography dawn, this site will feature a lot of #foodporn and #happytummy posts. Kalami Cebu will feature local dishes, restaurants, and events that relates to food. The aim of this blog is to help people discover the different wonders of the Cebu gastronomic world. This will not be limited to local cuisine because Cebu is a melting pot of cultures in its own ways. Today is the first day of one long and awesome journey of discovery.
