One of my favorite food trip buddies is Nezte Virtudazo.  We have been to countless of food trips in the past couple of years and recently we checked out BatchoyHouse328 and tried out their batchoy with bone marrow and also their halo-halo.

Kalami Cebu Food Tour with Canadian Visitors

Image
I received an unexpected email from a Canadian who asked about restaurant recommendations in Cebu. The guy happened to own a restaurant in Vancouver. I realized that his visit would be an awesome opportunity for me to show him what Kalami Cebu means. So, I offered to be his food tour guide.  It was not as easy as I thought but in the end, it turned out to be one tummy-filling experience for me and hopefully for them.

6-15-2015 Food of the Day: Sisig by Sisig in the City

Image
More and more people now are eating at malls rather than have a baon or go to carenderias. One of the favorite food stalls at the mall of Kalami Cebu Food Scout  +Nezte Virtudazo  is Sisig in the City.  He really enjoys eating the pork sisig at this stall at the 2nd level of Robinsons Cybergate Cebu.  Pork Sisig is a dish invented in Pampanga made of chopped pork face that became a popular pulutan or beer mate.  In recent years, the sisig became a favorite main dish of Filipinos as well.  Built on this popularity, several entrepreneurs opened restaurants and food stalls banking on their secret sisig recipe.

6-4-2015 Food of the Day: Bahug Bahug

Image
I recently posted in my Instagram account a picture of a Red Velvet cake and it generated quite a few likes and the #redvelvet hashtag has millions of posts already. I am really surprised how this red cake became so popular.  If we play a guessing game a couple of years ago, and you will give me clues of red and you can buy it in a bakeshop, the most likely answer that will come out of my mouth will be Bahug Bahug.  Bahug bahug is basically bread pudding and the sweet red creation was a favorite of mine while I was growing up. If there was Instagram in the 1980's, #bahugbahug could have thousands of posts. I searched Instagram for #bahugbahug and there were only 40 posts mentioning the hashtag.

Cafes in Cebu: Pasta and Cake at Degree 9 Coffee and Roasting

Image
It has been a while since I last talked to my friend  +Nezte Virtudazo  who is taking up Law at the University of San Carlos.  I usually drill him with  some law-related questions just to keep himself sharp in his freshman year in law school.  One of our favorite study hangouts is Degree 9 Coffee.  We just usually have coffee or tea.  Recently, we had a meet-up during finals week.

Eat-All-You-Restaurant in Cebu: Yakiniku all you can at Yaki House

Image
There was a time last year that my friend +Nezte Virtudazo   became a Yakiniku addict.  Ever since he ate at Yaki House Yakiniku, he practically wanted to eat there every day. I can't blame him.  Yaki House has one of the most affordable All You Can Eat Yakiniku in Cebu. Yakiniku House is located at A.S. Fortuna Street, Banilad, Mandaue City.  Last year, for only 299 pesos during lunch and 399 pesos during dinner, you can stuff yourself with grilled meat goodness until you get your fill. The nicest thing about Yakiniku is the cook-it-yourself experience.  A lot of diners go to a Yakiniku and just be busy "cooking" for their friends. It is so much fun that sometimes you forget to eat. Yaki House has a wide selection of meat.  They have chicken, pork, beef, sausages, scallops, and many more.
