6-21-2015: Puto ug Sikwate

Image
One of my favorite breakfast food combos is the puto with sikwate.  Puto is steamed sticky rice with coconut milk while sikwate is the native hot chocolate. The combination also goes so well with some ripe mangoes.  My two ways of eating the breakfast or snack pair are either I pour the sweet sikwate to the puto or I get a spoonful of puto and dip it in a cup of hot sikwate. Pictured above is the version of The Chocolate Chamber of this delightful combo. When was the last time you had puto and sikwate? Crepes and Pies for Dinner at Tymad Bistro

Image
Can you imagine eating crepes and pies for dinner? Not as dessert but we are talking about these "dessert" items as main courses. Well, this French Bistro in Maria Luisa Road has somehow surprised me. Tymad Bistro which means Good House in Celtic is a French-owned restaurant that prides itself on making the best crepes and  galettes  in Cebu.  Crepes are the typical desert pancakes that we are all used to while a galette is its savory sister that mainly use buckwheat.  The galettes are filled with ingredients used more in sandwiches than in crepes like ham, mushrooms, egg, cheese, ratatouille, or any other protein.

Chocolate overload at The Chocolate Chamber

A few weeks back, I checked out The Chocolate Chamber (TCC) in President Quirino Street in Kasambagan. The place is all about chocolates. If you love chocolates, you should try to visit TCC.  TCC is basically a dessert or afternoon tea place. It offers cakes, cookies, chocolates, puto, scones, and sandwiches.  The star of the restaurant is their wide choice of hot chocolate concoctions.  The hot chocolate is infused with different ingredients, making each drink unique to a certain extent.
