Food Question of the Week: When was the last time you had Ice Candy?
I remember back when I was a kid and ice cream is too expensive, I always love to eat Ice Candy! It is one of my favorite desserts especially during summer. There was a time that one piece was sold at 50 centavos. Recently, I was able to buy some at Isidra Comfort Cantina for 15 pesos each. I was like someone starved for food that I finished the 2 sticks in just a couple of minutes while driving. How about you, when was the last time you had Ice Candy? How much was the cheapest Ice Candy that you ever bought? Crepes and Pies for Dinner at Tymad Bistro
Can you imagine eating crepes and pies for dinner? Not as dessert but we are talking about these "dessert" items as main courses. Well, this French Bistro in Maria Luisa Road has somehow surprised me. Tymad Bistro which means Good House in Celtic is a French-owned restaurant that prides itself on making the best crepes and galettes in Cebu. Crepes are the typical desert pancakes that we are all used to while a galette is its savory sister that mainly use buckwheat. The galettes are filled with ingredients used more in sandwiches than in crepes like ham, mushrooms, egg, cheese, ratatouille, or any other protein.
When a Wish Took Flight: Jake Adonis Sibial’s Story of Hope
Jake Adonis Sibial grew up in Danao City with a clear picture of who he wanted to become. Aviation fascinated him. The skies felt like a possibility. But at sixteen, life interrupted that path in the most unexpected way. Jake was diagnosed with leukemia. For any teenager, that kind of news can feel overwhelming — a sudden pause on plans, school, an d the future itself. Hospital rooms replaced classrooms. Treatments replaced routines. And for a while, everything else faded into the background except one thing: survival. Yet even in the hardest moments, hope found a way in. A Wish That Changed Everything Through the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Jake was given something powerful — not just an ex perience, but a reason to believe again. His wish? To experience life in aviation. What followed was nothing short of extraordinary. Jake trained at a real flight school in Malaysia. He learned from professionals. He sat in a c ockpit not as a visitor, but as someone trusted to understand,...
