Eat-All-You-Can Restaurant in Cebu: Dim Sum Overload at Ding Qua Qua
What's the best value eat-all-you-can restaurant in Cebu?
One of my high school buddies celebrated his birthday recently and he wanted to meet some of the boys of our high school batch. We all wanted to eat something that reminded us of high school. Something we call "old school". Way back in the 1990's, one of the most popular restaurants that we frequently ate at during the weekends was Ding Qua Qua. Ding Qua Qua's location then was beside Rustan's in Mango Avenue. The place was known for its dim sum. The most popular dishes were steamed rice, siomai, lumpia shanghai (spring rolls), and hakaw. Steamed Rice is not your ordinary rice, this is a specialty. Every Cebuano knows what steamed rice means.
Ding Qua Qua: An All-Time Favorite Restaurant
The old Ding Qua Qua is gone and Rustan's Mango is now the center of Cebu nightlife. Good thing, the owners of Ding Qua Qua did not let the old favorite die. Ding Qua Qua has resurrected itself in JY Square in Lahug. The restaurant is the only Dimsum place in Cebu that offers an amazing eat-all-you-can buffet. At 248 pesos, you can have your fill of the best dishes of Cebu's dim sum authority.
You can have as much siomai as you want. In the buffet, there are 2 kinds of siomai; the original and quail egg. You can ask the waiters to give you some chili sauce to give your siomai some spiciness.
They also have Pata Tim with Chinese bread. The meat is so tender and it goes so well with the bread. It is also a delight to rice lovers.
You can make your own steamed rice. To make one, all you have to do is get some fried rice about a cup then pour some of their delicious meat sauce. I think I went back at least twice for refills.
They also have 2 kinds of fried spring rolls. I always love the original; but, if you want to try something different you can get some beef spring rolls. Do not forget some sweet and sour sauce to dip this crunchy offering.
To cap a good meal, they have some sweet offerings like the Bochi.
They have many other dishes like Chicken Feet, Veggies, Mandungo, Bam-i, Soup, and Minced Pork with Lettuce. The selection is great and if you really love dim sum, the price for the buffet is a solid bargain.
We had a very enjoyable lunch. We talked about the past, the present, and the future. You can see in our smiles that we really love the treat and we are actually planning another gathering over the weekend. Ding Qua Qua is an excellent choice for small birthday celebrations. The eat-all-you-can buffet has enough choices to satisfy any hungry Cebuano. The price is really affordable and it can compete well with the buffets of similar price points. If you want to know what Cebuano dim sum is all about, head to JY Square Mall and have a buffet lunch at Ding Qua Qua. Ding Qua Qua is definitely one of the best eat-all-you-can buffet restaurants in Cebu.
