GTalks Event Explores AI's Potential to Empower Women in Tech: GCash and Connected Women Lead the Way

In a resounding endorsement of the transformative power of Artificial Intelligence (AI), GCash, the leading mobile wallet, and Connected Women, a prominent advocate for women's empowerment, came together to celebrate UN Women in Tech day at the recent GTalks event. Held on April 25, 2023, the event shed light on the multitude of opportunities AI presents for women, highlighting the vision shared by both organizations: to foster financial inclusion and offer remote employment prospects through AI training programs.

Gina Romero, co-founder of Connected Women, emphasized that women from diverse backgrounds and varying financial standings can harness the potential of AI. With the rapid growth of emerging technologies, including AI, and the increased acceptance of remote work, women now have the opportunity to upskill and earn a livelihood from the comfort of their homes while juggling familial responsibilities.

Drawing from her own journey, Romero shared her experiences ranging from pig farming to being an air cabin crew before entering the tech industry. She passionately advocated for women's involvement at all levels in the tech sector, asserting that acquiring the skills needed for the future of work is within everyone's reach. Romero further highlighted that Connected Women is committed to providing accessibility for women, including underserved groups, enabling their participation in the digital economy.

The collaboration between GCash and Connected Women signifies a significant stride towards empowering women in the digital realm. GCash's dedication to fostering diversity in tech and leadership roles resonated with Connected Women's vision, fostering an exciting partnership aimed at creating more opportunities for women in the digital space.

Martha Sazon, president, and CEO of GCash, expressed her enthusiasm about the partnership, emphasizing GCash's commitment to promoting inclusivity. The collaboration aims to offer women broader avenues towards financial freedom and pave the way for the normalization of women leaders in the tech industry.

To facilitate the empowerment of AI remote workers, Connected Women has integrated its community platform with GCash, ensuring seamless payment transactions. Through the Earn Money feature in the GCash app, AI remote workers can conveniently receive their payments, streamlining their financial interactions.

Since the inception of this partnership in March 2023, the feature has witnessed an overwhelming response, with over 11,000 sign-ups. Connected Women's latest statistics report revealed that 91% of respondents, predominantly non-male (including female, non-binary, and those preferring not to disclose), expressed their interest in remote work opportunities.

GTalks: Empowering Women in Tech, the event where these remarkable developments were unveiled, featured prominent speakers who echoed the need for female empowerment in the tech industry. Alongside Gina Romero, other distinguished speakers included Lenlen Mesina, the UN Women country coordinator, Michelle Alarcon, co-founder of For the Women Foundation, as well as GCash's top executives: Martha Sazon, Pebbles Sy (Chief Technology & Operations Officer), and Robert Gonzales (Chief People Officer). Esteemed broadcast journalist Karen Davila hosted the event.

With GCash's steadfast commitment to empowering women and fostering diversity, it remains at the forefront of pioneering initiatives that bridge the gender gap in the tech sector.
