Favorite Food Stalls: 2-Meat Shawarma at Jafar's

I am working out again after months of "hibernation" and being focused on food blogging. One of my preferred post-workout meal is shawarma.  Shawarma is an Arab-way of grilling meat and one of the typical ways to enjoy it is with pita bread and eat the meat like a sandwich. In the Philippines, Shawarma could also be enjoyed with rice.  Two out three times, I would have shawarma sandwich or wraps instead of rice. In Cebu, one of best places for Shawarma is Jafar's.

Jafar's Shawarma has two branches in Cebu.  Their first branch is located at the Banilad Town Center.  Their newer branch is outside Rustan's Fresh Supermarket at Ayala Center, Cebu. I was really happy that they opened a food stall in Ayala as it just a walk away from Gold's Gym.

The menu at Jafar's is pretty straightforward.  The first decision will be if your shawarma is to be with rice or as a wrap.  The difference between the two is just 10 pesos. After picking rice or wrap, you will have to decide what meat you want to put in it.   It can either be chicken, minced beef, chorizo, chickpeas, or the premium U.S. Angus beef.  You can also order additional meat if you want.

Since I had weight training that day, I want to eat lots of protein so I decided to get a wrap with minced beef and chorizo. The attendant told me that the two makes an awesome combination.

My shawarma sandwich was made in front me.  Usually, Jafar's is packed during lunchtime and I was fortunate that the line was not so long on that day and I was able to take photos on how my lunch was made.

I told the Jafar's crew to go easy on the sauce because I am a messy eater and I do not like to have garlic sauce on my shirt. I told him that I really do not mind having less sauce since the meat were seasoned well.

This is the friendly guy who made my delicious post-workout meal.

My beef and chorizo shawarma from Jafar's was really good. At 119 pesos, it was packed  with a lot of protein which made it perfect as a recovery meal. The beef and chorizo go very well together and I strongly recommend this one after some intense physical activity.  Next time, I would like to taste how the chicken will go with the chickpea.

How would you like your shawarma?
