Breakfast Buffet in Cebu: Halo Restaurant at St. Mark Hotel

Many say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.  I totally agree and for me, the best way to start a day is to have a big breakfast.  You can do that by waking up at 4 am and start cooking pancakes, eggs, bacon, etc. or you can "cheat" and just go to a breakfast buffet.  I recently went St. Mark Hotel and tried Halo Restaurant's Breakfast buffet. It was so filling and satisfying that I skipped lunch.  The experience made me think of having a big breakfast every weekend.

It was supposed to be a typical weekend for me when +Marie Imperial sent a message in facebook asking if I am free to check out the breakfast buffet of St. Mark Hotel. I am a morning person so I immediately said yes to her. St. Mark Hotel is located at Queen's Road, Redemptorist Plaza.  It is the hotel that is closest to Redemptorist Church.  I decided to park my car at the church and +Jephunneh Deon Flores and I walked towards the hotel.  The hotel's restaurant is called Halo and it is located at the 2nd floor. The capacity of Halo is around 50 pax and their breakfast buffet costs Php380 per person.

So, what do they offer on their breakfast buffet?

Bread

Halo Restaurant has a bread station where you have different kinds of bread. They also have a toaster in that station and several types of "palaman" like fruit jams and peanut butter.

I love ensaymada and I am glad that I see it in their bread station. It has been a while since I ate one of my favorite sweet bread.

Cereals, Milk, Oatmeal, and Yogurt

Cereals with milk are one of the most popular breakfast combinations. Kids would love this station.  One of the first items that I took for my big breakfast at Halo Restaurant was the Nestle Fruit Selection Yogurt.

Egg and Pancake Station

How do you like your eggs? Scrambled? Omelette? Sunny-side up? At Halo Restaurant, your eggs will be cooked in front of you. I always eat eggs for breakfast and I got an omelette. Pancake lovers will also enjoy it here because the egg station doubles as a pancake station.

Puto and Manga

I have not been to a hotel buffet that serves puto and manga. The mangoes were really ripe and it was perfect for their authentic puto maya or rice cake. The restaurant also serves sikwate or hot chocolate for a legendary PMS (Puto-Manga-Sikwate) combo.

Proteins

Breakfast will not be complete without some proteins. Filipinos love to eat rice in every meal and St. Mark Hotel has a lot of nice dishes that will go very well with sinangag or garlic rice.

Halo has Humba and Tocino. The Pork Humba is a Top 10 dish for any Cebuano. Having delicious humba for breakfast is an indulgence that any Cebuano would want. The tocino, meanwhile, is one of the most common meat preparations for breakfast among Filipinos. Both dishes have someone sweetness and saltiness in it that would really open up your appetite for more food.

Breaded Fish and Fried Chicken.  If you like "dry" food then you can feast on the fried chicken and the breaded fish.

The breakfast buffet also features bacon and local chorizo.  I consider both as happy food and it is really awesome that Halo Restaurant included both in their buffet.  I always get #goodvibes if I start my day with bacon or chorizo.

Salads and Desserts

The breakfast buffet became so well-rounded with the inclusions fruits, vegetables, and sweets. The selection made me that the Halo restaurant buffet is actually an amazing brunch buffet can be 2 meals in one.

I was really stuffed when I finished my breakfast.  I really enjoy it here and I recommend this place as a Sunday brunch place just after you attend the 8:15 morning mass at the Redemptorist Church. The selection is really solid and if you try most of their dishes then highly likely that you would not need to eat lunch.
