It has been a while since I last went to other towns to check out new restaurants.  Most of the time, I am confined to Cebu City.  When Herbert Kikoy of driftstories.com told me about a new restaurant in Liloan that was looking for bloggers to sample their food, I immediately said Yes.  I did not regret my decision because Faro is a restaurant that you should check out in Liloan, Cebu.

Faro means lighthouse in Spanish and that is how the restaurant got its name.  The restaurant is situated just a stone's throw away from the Liloan Lighthouse at Bagacay Point.   The restaurant is facing Mactan Channel.

Faro is owned by a good-looking couple.  Chow Canete handles the kitchen while wife Tiffany serves as the front of the house. Their restaurant offers a unique ambiance.  It has a homey feel but it has a great potential to be an intimate romantic place where you would bring your special someone or the apple of your eyes.

The place also boasts of a menu that will surely inspire anyone to make this restaurant a food trip destination in Liloan.  I, along with several other bloggers sampled some of their dishes and we went home with a #happytummy.

The Dishes at Faro

Meat Lovers Supreme (Php 250)

The pizza's size is good for 3-4 people.  It had all meat toppings and it was seasoned well.  Faro also serves Hawaiian pizza if you prefer your pizza with pineapples.  The third flavor is the Margherita.   They cook the pizza in a brick oven.

Reuben's Signature Tapas (Php 345)

Faro considers this as one of their specialties.  It is a plate filled with yummy appetizers: Beef Sirloin Strips, Calamari, Buffalo Wings and Pork BBQ Skewers.  Reuben is the name of the uncle who suggested the name of the restaurant.  I really like this because of the variety and my favorite among the four is the Sirloin.

Lengua (Php 245) and Paella (Php 365)

I was pleasantly surprised that the restaurant has some Spanish dishes.   The lengua and paella were pretty solid. Both were worth it if you consider their prices.  The Spaniard in me was definitely happy eating those dishes.

Pochero (Php 280) and Sisig (Php 180)

Faro did not ignore the Filipino in me as they also served classic Pinoy favorites pochero and sisig. Chow is pretty proud of his sisig and he even wants to host Food Wars: Sisig edition.  Should I decide to look for the best sisig in Cebu, I would surely make a pit stop in Liloan.

Goat Curry

Goat is probably one of the most challenging meats to cook among local livestock.  We tried their goat curry and I can say that they know how to handle goat meat.  Aside from the curry, Faro serves Kalderetang Kambing.

To cap our fine lunch, we were served Creme Brulee along with their lemonade specials and fruit shakes.

All in all, it was a well-rounded meal and it made me really full.  My highlights would probably the paella, curry, and sisig. I will surely go back there one of these days to try out their other dishes and probably have cocktails on a late afternoon while watching ships pass by the Mactan Channel.

Please do check out Faro at Bagacay Point in Liloan and let me know your thoughts about the place and their food.
