The One Guy that I would not Invite to a Fiesta...
His name is Kenzo and I met him a couple of days ago. He is a good looking guy. He comes from a prominent family here in Cebu. He could even be the type of guy that you want your sister or daughter to date. He could even be a good buddy of mine, but definitely I am not going to invite him to a fiesta or party if I am serving some hot chicken wings. ;)
Meet Kenzo Canizares, the first ever Gibbs' Hot Wings Wing King. He bested 7 other brave hot wings fanatics to win the title. For being Wing King, Kenzo won himself a daily serving of delicious Gibbs' Hot Wings for 3 months, a case of Cebruery Beer, bottles of Silly Hot Sauce, a brand new IPad Mini from JV Shop and Shop, and the chance to defend his crown in 3 months.
The Gibbs' Hot Wings Hot Wings Competition
As part of the festivities in the grand opening of one of Cebu's most popular Hot Wings place, owner Coy Oliva organized the first ever wing eating competition in Cebu. There were 8 brave souls who participated in the inaugural event.
The Challengers
The competitors came in different shape and sizes. There were 6 guys led by Kenzo and 2 girls. The courageous girls were Jasmine of Beauty and Beyond, and Gail.
Elimination Round of the Gibbs' Hot Wings Hot Wings Competition
In the elimination round, the competitors were given a plate filled with 20 delicious Gibbs' Hot Wings. They need to consume as many wings as possible in 1 minute. The Top 3 contestants will move on the final round.
After an intense 1-minute of hot wings devastation, the Top 3 were Kenzo, Ryan, and the surprising Jasmine. I am super impressed with Jasmine as she beat 4 males to be in the final 3.
The Final Round
In the final round, the remaining competitors were given separate tables. Jasmine, Kenzo, and Ryan will have to finish one order of Gibbs' Hot Wings newest flavor, the Mango Silly. The Mango Silly sauce is made of mangoes and Senyor Silly Hot Sauce. The first one to finish eating all the chicken wings will be declared the winner.
The final round was really thrilling. I now know why Americans love to organize these kinds of contests. Kenzo had a fast start, but Ryan and Jasmine were not too far behind. Ryan picked up the pace late and it was too close to call half-way into the contest.
Gibbs' Hot Wings is located at the 2nd Level of Streetscape, Maria Luisa Road, Banilad, Cebu City.
