 The fast-food war in Cebu is really heating up as more stand-alone fast-food joints are sprouting in the city.  A few months ago, Burger King opened a drive-through restaurant in F. Cabahug Street just beside a Jollibee branch. Last Saturday, McDonald's opened a branch at the corner of Hernan Cortes and A.S. Fortuna Streets in Mandaue. My family went there to witness the opening and I think this branch will really be busy in the years to come.

 The new McDonald's branch is located 1 kilometer away from my house and it sits at a major intersection along A.S. Fortuna Street. In that the same junction, you can find a newly opened Gaisano Supermarket and a Rose Pharmacy branch.  The new "Mcdo" is just a few steps away from Mandaue barbecue hotspot Matias Barbecue.  The branch has an ample parking space and it can cater drive-through customers.

 As expected, the opening drew a large crowd.  The queue was long and it was hard to find vacant seats.

 The walls have statements painted saying "I want to be strong and make my world happy!".  The branch will surely make children happy as it has a playground on the second floor.  There are also toilets on that floor.

 We decided to have dinner there and we were lucky to immediately find seats.

 We bought some of our favorite items. Papa had a double cheeseburger, Mama had McRib, Steph had chicken and spaghetti, and I decided to get a quarter pounder meal.  We also bought a cute Minions happy meal that came with a free toy.

 3 Good things about McDonald's A.S. Fortuna

Location
The foot traffic in the junction is high.  The area has many offices and subdivisions nearby.  There are a few condominium developments within the vicinity.  In fact in 3 years, a condominium will rise at the property beside it.  McDonald's got a magnificent spot.

Absence of Direct Competition
The new McDonald's branch is the only major fast-food outlet within a 2-kilometer radius.  The closest Jollibee will be in F. Cabahug, J Centre Mall, and Talamban.

Drive-Trough and Parking
The area is really busy during peak hours, especially in the rainy season.  It is good that they have a drive through service.  The outlet has parking areas at the sides and at the back of building.

Wing Night Part I: Bad Boys Wingz- Another Awesome Chicken Wing Place in Cebu

In the past year, there have been several restaurants in Cebu that wants to claim "The Best Wings Place in Cebu" title.  The introduction of several chicken wing places cannot outpace the demand for delicious and spicy chicken wings. It is definitely a booming segment as many  Cebuanos flock to their favorite wing place.  Recently, I had a "wing night" with my wife and we restaurant-hopped in two of the best chicken wing places in Cebu. First, we visited the newly opened Bad Boys Wingz right across Bright Academy in Talamban. This wing place used to be a small, but very popular food stall at the BTC and because of the high demand of chicken wings, the owners opened a stand-alone restaurant. I would say it was an excellent decision because they really serve one of the best chicken wings in Cebu.

The Abaca restaurant group opened its newest outlet that is fast becoming the trendiest bakeshop/cafe in Cebu.  The Abaca Baking Company started serving fresh breads and pastries to Cebuanos a few weeks ago.  It is located at the Crossroads Mall in Banilad. The Abaca brand has always been a favorite among upscale diners and this new bakery/cafe/coffee shop is another sure hit by the famed restaurant group.
